What a Dutch SME should ask before signing
Four questions separate a consultant who will deliver from one who will produce a document:
- What exactly do I own at the end? A working system, or a set of recommendations I still have to implement.
- Who maintains it when you leave? If the answer requires hiring someone technical, the running cost is higher than the quote.
- Where does our customer data go? Every tool that touches personal data is a processor under GDPR, and each one needs an agreement in place before go-live, not after.
- What happens if the ROI does not appear? Ask for the number in writing before you sign.

Adoption is heavily skewed by size: 17.8% among firms with 10 to 19 staff, against 59.2% at companies with 500 or more.
